Recently I have noticed that a number of parenting bloggers are weighing in on presidential preferences. Perhaps I’m alone on this but I have never thought this a good idea. Here’s why: You potentially alienate 50% of your readership. Everyone has their ideas on the election and few are as undecided as you may think.
“But it’s your passion,” you say. “You must be true to yourself,” I think I heard someone murmur. While this may be true, I come to your site to be stimulated with fresh, new information on children, parents, and their issues. I trust you in this respect. But I don’t care who you support.
In cases where the candidates address issues specific to parenting or children’s health, this is reasonable. Otherwise I think it’s best to keep a focused voice.
