Today marked the launch of Revolutionhealth.com, the newcomer of online health portals created by AOL brainchild Steve Case. The party line is that he aims to fix a “broken industry by putting healthcare back into the hands of the consumer.” They should probably start putting some of that $250 million into fixing their physician locator. They’ve got me at some cockamamie Houston address on the wrong side of the tracks.
The site is otherwise sharp and may represent the next generation of health portals given its inclination towards social networking. While not surprising, the parenting component is a bit anemic although I’m guessing parents aren’t in their target demographic. Revolution Health may be off to a bum start with the pediatricians since it seems they’ve partnered with Redi Clinics. And there are, of course, the requisite in-house blogs which are impeccably well-rehearsed.
If nothing else, check out the Lose One Pound tool. You enter an activity and your weight and it spits out how many minutes you have to do that activity to lose a pound. I scrolled looking for “sitting on the sofa posting while eating Cheerios” but for some reason this isn’t listed.
